Mr. Simon attended the University of Arizona, School of Music where he learned that percussionists need not suffer from a life of musical inferiority if they learn to analyze fugal expositions, transpose modal polyphony, and lord it over those high and mighty piano players (who still tremble in fear from anything written in alto clef.)
He’s played (why am I writing in 3rd person?) front band for the Rolling Stones in Europe, 3rd oboe with the Woody Guthrie Show Band and Revue, and once saw an uncanny look-alike for Buddy Rich’s daughter in a mall on the outskirts of Oklahoma City – well, no, she was a red head … and taller, I think … and the wrong age.
My (okay, okay – “His”) musical education includes guitar, bass, quica (look it up), and most anything that gets me/him paid and requires no rehearsal. His road band experience in the late eighties has been pretty much cleared up through medication, and netted close to eleven dollars.
He owns many cymbals.
